The Evil Motivation of Money

Is money Evil? This is open to opinion and speculation.

Money provides us with wealth in the form of meeting needs.

Money provides the ability to buy products and services that are needed for survival and a better quality of life.

Everyone wants and needs money for our health, happiness, success, and survival.

Everyone strives in life to make money to fulfill needs.

In this regard, money is a GOD send – Using Money is easier than bartering goods.


Then there is the other side of the equation – How much money is enough?

This is a tricky question because the answer is variable depending on the person and their environment.

A positive Psychology study showed that happiness is maximized with an income of 70k per year and any additional earnings does not provide increased happiness.

If this is true: Why do most of us want to make more than 70k per year?

There are many reasons – Here is a simple one:

We want to buy things that we don’t have and we want our immediate family and friends to share in the excitement.

i.e. 10 people in the immediate family = Need 700k

Here in lies the problem with money – GREED

Making money is wonderful and everyone should have the opportunity to grow their wealth to meet their needs and dreams.

Money provides many wonderful benefits such as traveling the world and sending your kids to college.

The GREED part of money is the scary part and is what causes FEAR in our economy.

We need an economy that will only accept honesty, trust, and fairness.

What are people willing to do to gain more money?

On one side – People are willing to get a great education, work hard, develop innovative products, and serve our communities for the greater good.

On the other side – People are willing to:

  • Break any and all ethical values
  • Deceive potential customers
  • Create scams to steal from the innocent
  • Murder and victimize family and non-family members
  • Create complex money schemes to bait people into giving away their money
  • Pretend to love GOD
  • Become politicians to steal from the public in the guise of favors
  • Form organized crime units
  • Steal from crime scenes
  • Write unnecessary prescriptions for their gain instead of their patients
  • Perform unnecessary surgery and put helpless lives in jeopardy
  • Sell mortgages that are based on shark loans that could never be paid

and this list goes on and on.

These people come from many different backgrounds and walks of life – They have different influences on them as they grow up, come from different socio-economic levels, have different values and education levels, but they all fit succinctly into one category – Evil.

  • It is Evil to harm others for GREEDY selfish personal gain
  • It is Evil to justify harming other people for increased financial gain
  • It is Evil to break ethics as a practicing professional to make more money
  • It is Evil to abuse an authority position to steal for personal gain

Money is not Evil – People are willing to do Evil things to get more money.

This motivation for more money propels people to do Evil thing and causes instability in our economy.  The culture of money needs a makeover – The Evil acts of GREED compromise safety.

Why are you hesitant about any offer? Is it because you are on guard from being scammed?

Why do we mistrust people we never met before?

Why are we worried that someone might hurt someone we love?

Peter Drucker warned General Motors (GM) about inherent dangers associated with their business model and GM Leadership refused to listen.

Peter Drucker was shunned and despised for proposing such a condescending view.

His foresight was disregarded because GM was in all regards, a Corporate Super-Power.

We all know what happened to GM and history caught up with Peter Drucker to finally acknowledge his brilliance.

We are currently as of January 14th 2012 in a change crisis and if proper action is not taken then a similar disaster will occur for each and every one of us.

Analogy: A frog leaps out of boiling water it is put in (makes a decision for survival when presented with an immediate crisis).

A frog sits in the warm water as it slowly boils and kills the frog – The frog never leaps out because it never seen the danger coming until it was too late (complacency).

We are in a state of complacency and some of us are aware enough to take action before it is too late.

Recent News: Hostess filed bankruptcy!!!


Hostess has no business filing for bankruptcy – They have a time tested brandGreat products, and a solid business modelOr do they?

The reason for the bankruptcy is they cannot afford the pensions of their retired workers!!!

What? Hostess cannot afford pensions? Neither could GM!!

The future is clear in regards to pensions – Companies, even the best (i.e. Coke, IBM), cannot afford pensions.

Companies with a business model that attracts billions in profits will not be able to afford pensions and neither will any State or Government agency.


Invest a small amount of your monthly pay in a 401k or IRA where the focus is on a growth Mutual Fund (for inexperienced investors) to get started.

Overcoming Adversity: (Part 2 of 2)


(I know you’re in suspense!)

Part 1 offered this thought: People don’t live up to their potential because they are told they can’t!

How do we overcome this negativity?

The power of success is within us and we have to understand that we all face adversity regardless of where we come from which is why adversity is a natural occurrence.

1.     Self discipline: develop a mental attitude that controls emotions, sexuality, eating; control what you say by thinking before you speak and focus your mind on positive actions to gain mental peace.

2.    Acquire a pleasing personality that improves your likeability factor.

Personality is within your control and causes people to like or dislike us.

Personality can be controlled through your reactions, direction of your enthusiasm, and through self discipline.

Let other people speak instead of leading the conversation (Listen) and be careful of the sarcasm that is used during conversation because it can trigger negativity in your audience.

Hint from Napoleon Hill:

  • Finding fault with the world at large is not pleasing to others and indifference when others are speaking is resented
  • Don’t flatter where it is not deserved because it comes off as insincere and you lose trust
  • Don’t talk about your problems

3.    Most of all: Uncompromising faith in seeing your success out till the end.

Being able to see something where there is nothing is what makes the average great.

Defeat is life’s test to you.

Get rid of all doubts and you will get as far as the amount of faith you have in succeeding.

4.    Always exceed expectations!

5.    Lastly, form an alliance with a trusted co-partner whether your Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Wife, Husband.

As long as you have full trust and clear communication your togetherness will provide a compounding of success.

This will get you past your limit and get you to the next level.

I have faith that you will embrace your struggles and choose not to take the line of least resistance.

Overcoming Adversity: (Part 1 of 2)

Adversity and Defeat: two terms no one wants to face. Why?

Because it takes too much effort – but, unfortunately, none of us will get through life without facing these obstacles.

I outline methods here that help us deal with these uncomfortable moments in life.

Adversity and Defeat are the universe’s way of disciplining us!

A direction is provided for us to follow, but we have to be aware of the new opportunity, and stay alert instead of letting the moment get us down.

We need to set a personal initiative to force our will to achieve no matter the resistance.

We can accomplish this with pure enthusiasm and by putting our inner strength into action.  Knowledge is power but only when we use it.

The key to overcoming adversity & defeat is to keep a positive mental attitude (I can, I will).


  • Refrain from controversy
  • Set your mind to positive
  • Ask leading questions to draw people to what you want
  • Have a good laugh when irritated
  • Have gratitude for your experiences
  • Focus on the can-do, strength grows from struggles
  • There are no unprofitable experiences
  • Life is an education
  • Comment positively on others
  • Be critical about oneself
  • Do not accept anything that you do not desire
  • Stay engaged in your purpose in life

More Techniques:

If you feel sorry for yourself due to certain specific circumstances, find someone who is in a worse off position in life and understand that it could always be worse.

Choose a role-model that you look up to and emulate them, we all admire someone so why not choose the best.

Whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve.

“Your thoughts can become reality if you let them which is why we need to fight the negative and concentrate on the positive.”

Why do most people fail to live up to their potential?

Because they are told that they can’t!

We are told that we can only get so far in life or that we have to work to climb the ladder of success and that there is a system that we need to follow to get to our dreams.

These forces of culture have trained us to formulate our attitudes towards the world around us in a certain way which is why we have to train ourselves to be positive – it doesn’t come naturally.

Leadership Dilemma: The American Leadership Paradox

As coaches, we aim to support the development of our clients to meet strategic goals and to enhance overall quality of life.  Coaching and Leadership intersect – In the organizational sense; Associates want value from their leaders, and desire to develop a co-relationship focused on achieving success.  The current zeitgeist of Leadership is trending towards acquiring specific skills that is possessed by the coaching industry.  As potential change agents, coaches must ask powerful questions about the psychological dynamics of our society at large.

•Are we at war with ourselves?

•Why are large bureaucratic organizations slow to act?

•How do we understand the complexities of the struggle?

Society demands a powerful altruistic Leader that makes quick decisions that benefit everyone while simultaneously providing security.  However, America is a nation of individualists who strive to be the Leader, and are ashamed to be categorized in the role of follower.  Simply, American culture frowns upon the follower and the omnipotent Leader is exaggeratedly admired.

•Who do you want to be?

The Leader of course! Well, the problem is that Leaders need followers.  If everyone is the Leader and no-one follows, then there is a Leadership dilemma called The American Leadership Paradox.

1. Society wants community and togetherness, but explicitly yearns for a capitalist society with individualist freedom.

2. Society values family, but relishes in the rebel persona.

3. American culture is a paradox that attempts to indulge within both ends of the spectrum.

Leaders are unable to lead because society chooses to scoff at instead of follow.  Cognitive dissonance is displayed towards Leaders, and society at large believes they are capable of producing better results.  Trust and integrity have been squandered by previous leaders which disables pre-determined respect for future Leaders.

The Nature/Nurture debate – Is it inborn or due to the situation?  Current research has determined the debate to be estimated at a 50/50 split.

If there are wonderful Leaders and the situation is not conducive to leading, then the cold-hard truth is – Leaders will fail 50% of the time regardless of inborn or learned ability. Current Leadership is failing at an astounding rate (over 70%). What constitutes leadership failure? Short answer: Not meeting goals.

•How do we survive in a Leaderless society if our models in family, business, politics, education, and more, require a Leader who has power that is admired and followed?

•Can we all be leaders without followers or is there another solution?

Currently, the common consensus is that: our Leaders are unethical, self-centered, and ruining our economy!  Americans, don’t trust the government, don’t trust commercials, and in fact, place little faith on anything.  Why?  Is it because Americans are horrible people, or is it because our system is coming to a breaking point? I argue for the latter.

•Why do we tolerate unethical leadership?

•Why do some leaders act unethically?

Our individualist system funneled these leaders to the pinnacle because they are the best players of the game our society has produced.  They are tolerated because, if they are great Leaders, elitist, and are flawed, then the individual perception interprets an ego-boost which sends the individual’s self-esteem sky rocketing.  The ego-imagination covets the positive regard of a Leader, and an unethical Leader with praise is lesser qualified for the role of Leader than the self.  The American Leadership Paradox!

•How do we fix the Paradox?

Fixing or modifying any paradox is a mission within a mission, which might never be accomplished, and is why venturing out on this journey is more than challenging.  Albeit while complex, well worth the strategic effort because Leadership is an integral part of a successful society.

Enhancing self-awareness of cultural factors and aiding in understanding the application of value-based Leadership. Utilizing expert coaching tools to raise awareness and move Leaders through blinding dimensions. As coaches, we could participate in curbing and overcoming the deterioration of the aforementioned: American Leadership.  We cannot be concerned with the system and concentration of choosing Leaders, but rather, concentrate on the coaching role in development which is integral to Leadership success. This article challenges all qualified coaches to understand the dynamics of Leadership and contribute to supporting the evolution & success of the Leadership dimension.

End Bullying!!

End Bullying!!

When is the system going to implement a zero-tolerance rule against bullying?

What is it going to take for the system to understand the importance of fighting the bullying phenomenon?

How many more kids have to die before drastic measures have to be taken?

It all starts and ends with the system and our leaders need to take action to end the misery experienced by victims of bullying.

Why is bullying allowed to persist and why is it overlooked by school administrations?

Not enough is being done and the little that is being put together is not enough.

Real change needs to happen in the school culture in order to keep our kids safe.

A girl throws herself in front of a NYC Bus to end her misery two days after Christmas because she can’t take the torture of being bullied anymore and there was no one there to help her.

Everyone knew of her situation including the school and no one could help her – Kid bullies are ruthless because it provides them a sense of power.

The system needs to take the power out of young kid’s hands by removing the ability to bully others so innocent kids don’t have to die.

Bullying is a vicious cycle that damages good kids and destroys the integrity of the educational system.

Suicide becomes an epidemic that is contagious and more kids are opting for suicide.

People ignore bullying until it affects their neighborhood or their own family!!

A New Year – Joy or Dread?

A New Year – Joy or Dread?

We are all aware of the 2012 predictions based on the Mayan calendar…

Did anyone know that the Mayans have three cycles (short, medium & long) in their calendar that are repetitive?

2012 is the end of the long cycle and then the short cycle begins, but their calendar wasn’t expressed past the end of the long cycle.

This does not predict doom, but rather, a new beginning – The end.

Solar flares are real and the Ocean temperature transference is causing the extreme weather of 2011 that will most likely continue, and this is not a prediction, but rather the truth.

Now onto the real focus…

Happy New Year!!!

Joy – A time for celebration especially if you are an optimist and young at heart.

Dread – Pessimist that is not young at heart and reflects back on times of youth.

I can relate to both perspectives being empathetic and between being young and getting old.

We celebrate youth and idolize celebrities who died youngMarilyn Monroe & James Dean

Being young is a part of our culture and Americans spend billions each year in an attempt to stay young – It’s an obsession!!

None of us want to get old, and as I age, I realize something important…

We never think getting old is an option when we live in youth.

My Father was 50 when I was born and he always said, “live your life and make as many memories as you can because when you get older you have nothing left but your memories”.

I understood and took his advice, but this perspective can never fully be understood until we move beyond youth – Catch 22.

An optimist accepts life at the moment, and finds the best aspects to focus on, and moves forward.

A pessimist focuses on what they don’t have and imagines what it would feel like if they had what their missing.

The optimistic existence is optimal but let’s understands the latter in relation to youth – We all have to go through it!!

Youth is the best part of life because our bodies are in prime condition and our experiences are limited so every abundant and new experience is exhilarating.

As we age our bodies start to slow and experiences become repetitive.

We are aware that life used to be more fun and those days could never be revisited.

We witness new trends and see people living life the way we used to live it.

Time speeds up as we get older (according to physics)

Example: At 21, one minute equals 60 seconds, at 40, one minute equals 57 seconds (A loss of 3 seconds per minute) – We slow down and it adds up!!

We need to accept that we had our chance and lived life our way.

No one gets a second chance and we need to be thankful for having the experience.

We need to accept life for the moment and embrace our current strengths.

We are more experienced, more intelligent (crystallized), and these qualities lead to better decision making (No bungee jumping).

These variables enable us to experience a more enlightened life that embraces the whole world around us and provides unique perspectives that is only attainable by an aged person.

We become the teachers of life instead of the learners – We graduate.

*What boggles my mind is that we never see it coming no matter how much we are warned.
